COVID-19 Vaccine Has Arrived for Ages 12+
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, recently approved for ages 12 and older, is now available at Metropolitan Pediatrics. Our team is ready to help your whole family get protected! Everyone in your household between the ages of 12 and 64 (not covered by Medicare or Kaiser HMO) is welcome to receive their COVID-19 vaccine here. Sign up for our COVID-19 Vaccine Waitlist today on our website, and we’ll be in touch to schedule your vaccine appointment as soon as our supply allows. At this time, we are only adding patients ages 12+ and their family members to the waitlist.
To help save lives and end this pandemic, we encourage everyone to get vaccinated when they have the opportunity. Our vaccine supply is increasing, and we’ll have more availability over the next few weeks, but don’t hesitate to take advantage of vaccine opportunities in your community, wherever you can get vaccinated first.
As pediatric providers (and parents), we’re excited that adolescents can now get protected against COVID-19! After careful review, the FDA determined that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and effective for ages 12 to 15 and updated its emergency use authorization to include everyone ages 12+ on May 10, 2021. During the vaccine study with 2,260 adolescent participants, no serious adverse events were observed and none of the vaccinated individuals had symptomatic coronavirus infection (while 18 participants in the unvaccinated group did get sick from the virus). Another promising result: antibody levels were much higher in vaccinated adolescents compared to adults who have received the vaccine!
Please protect your adolescent from COVID-19 by getting them vaccinated as soon as possible. Remember, anyone can get very sick from COVID-19 and pass it to others. Protecting your child not only protects them; it also protects others, including kids around them who are too young to be vaccinated. Let’s take care of each other!
If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, please ask your provider. We’re happy to talk through your concerns and provide the information you need to make a confident decision in protecting your family.
Here’s to more hugs, in-person fun, and better days ahead!
We hope to see you soon for your vaccine appointment,
