Appointment FAQs

We encourage patients to use their MyHealth online portal to book visits, message their provider, and review visit summaries. These digital tools offer more convenience for you and less time on the phone!

Our providers are available for booking a well visit up to 90 days in advance. Please plan ahead so you can find the appointment time most convenient for you.

What is the difference between a well-child visit and an office visit?

Well-child visits are preventive appointments, sometimes called checkups, where the pediatrician monitors the child’s growth and development. These appointments are scheduled on a frequency recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Office visits are recommended when a child feels ill, has an injury, or has any concern where they want to speak with a medical provider. These can be respiratory symptoms, rash and skin conditions, gastrointestinal problems, other physical ailments, or mental health concerns.

Do you offer same-day visits?

Yes, we do! We have a set number of appointments set aside every day for same-day requests. These tend to fill up quickly, so we encourage you to call first thing in the morning to book your visit for that day. Metro Pediatrics is not a walk-in clinic and all same-day visits are scheduled on an appointment basis, so please contact the office before you arrive. Same-day visits are not available to book online.

What are your office hours?

We have 6 locations, each open from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. We’re open on Saturday and Sunday in Beaverton, Bridgeport, Johnson Creek, and Gresham. For more details, please call us at 833-PDX-KIDS, or visit our location pages.

Can I book an online visit as a new patient?

Of course! As a new patient, you’re welcome to book your first visit online. After your appointment is confirmed, we’ll text you a link to set up your online MyHealth account, followed by other documents to complete before your arrival.

Does a well exam include a sports physical?

Yes, a comprehensive OSAA-approved sports physical, or doctor’s physical release for sports, is included in a regularly scheduled well exam for children who participate in sports. Please let our scheduler know when booking the appointment that you would like to include a sports physical.

It’s important for a patient to see their primary care provider (PCP) for a sports physical exam instead of a school volunteer or sports trainer. A PCP will evaluate the patient’s medical history in context with the type of sport they play to assess injury prevention and overall health readiness.
