Biography

Before her days in the exam room, Emily spent five years in a classroom, teaching first and second graders. Through working with children with medical complexities and mental health needs, she realized that she wanted to be able to care for the “whole” child. She also noticed that she always read the health section of any newspaper first! Ready to take her career to the next level, she enrolled at Yale School of Nursing and joined an incredible cohort of professionals dedicated to advancing pediatric care. Since then, she has found her happy place as a pediatric nurse practitioner in the primary care setting.

As a PNP, Emily loves working with children and caregivers across the whole spectrum of pediatric care, with each day bringing such a diversity of patients and concerns. She adores the added variety of engaging with different age patients – from being silly with toddlers, inquisitive with school-age kids, and collaborative with adolescents. She is honored to be a partner that a parent or child can turn to, both to celebrate joys and milestones as well as to be a trusted resource when questions or concerns arise. It’s truly a privilege to support children and families at different stages and develop relationships over time.

Within pediatrics, Emily has unique interests in mental health and lactation. While these areas may seem so different, they can be very challenging for caregivers yet well addressed in the comfort and familiarity of the primary care setting. Emily is currently a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and working toward certification as a Pediatric Mental Health Specialist (PMHS).

In addition, she spent nearly a decade as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and youth sailing coach. She is incredibly passionate about water safety and loves discussing ways to keep children and adults safe around water, both at home and out in the community.

Whether in the water or on land, Emily loves to adventure with her husband, son, and dog Yonnie. They’re into skiing, mountain biking, water sports, trail running, yoga, and vegetable gardening. The family also looks forward to summer and fruit season in the Gorge every year – cherries and blueberries are their favorite picks. While Oregon’s berry game is strong, no bakery here can rival a New Jersey bagel! Emily would be lost without her freezer stash of hometown bagels, which satisfy her cravings between visits.
