Care Philosophy

I enjoy becoming part of a team with my patients and their parents, working together for the good of the child. I listen and encourage open communication with my families. I strive to help my patients become healthy, happy, and confident young adults and, of course, encourage that they stay physically active! I truly understand the value of going the extra mile, whether it's treating my patients or training for marathons.”

– Laura Dahl, MD

Biography

Originally on track to become a veterinarian, Dr. Dahl worked briefly with large animals, taking their vital signs, before making the switch to pediatrics. Always a fan of working with kids, including a happy history of coaching youth sports and umpiring youth softball, the decision to become a pediatrician seemed obvious. Now in practice for more than 25 rewarding years, Dr. Dahl knows she made the right call.

The epitome of an exercise enthusiast, Dr. Dahl lives for active endeavors and will try her hand at any sport. She has run several Hood to Coast relays and many marathons (her all-time favorite: the Boston Marathon). She also enjoys biking, hiking, skiing, golf, and playing basketball. Next up on her adventure list: The Columbia River Highway Trail, a newer 73-mile hiking/biking trail that goes from Troutdale out to the Gorge and Hood River!

Speaking of things that keep her on-the-go, Dr. Dahl has one teenage son, Josh, and two high-energy Standard Poodles, Rudy and Russell. Together, she and Josh enjoy friendly basketball games in the backyard, playing with their dogs, and cooking – actually, Josh enjoys eating… Dr. Dahl enjoys cooking!

FUN FACT: While pregnant with her son, Dr. Dahl realized she had college eligibility left to play basketball. She tried out when her son was two weeks old and was a starter for Mt. Hood Community College women’s basketball team for two seasons!
