Care Philosophy

Watching children grow from precious newborns to confident young adults is a treasured gift. I am so honored to connect with families as they help their child find their own path. Each twist and turn of a child’s life can be an adventure!

I focus on getting to know you and your child, listening and learning about your unique needs. Experience has taught me that good pediatric care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s working together to balance your ideas with trusted advice for your family’s health care and well-being.

I work with families to build a partnership that focuses on supporting each child and family through all the challenges of this complex world. It’s so wonderful to see where each adventure takes us!"

– Kristan Collins, MD

“I remember the sparkle in this little child’s eye – one glimpse of that special light, and I was hooked.”

Nothing could prepare Dr. Collins for the experiences she would have on the pediatric cancer wards during medical school. There, in the middle of all that struggle, she fell in love with the boundless joy and hope of children and discovered her life’s passion. Even though the memory is now distant, she’s reminded of her inspiration every time she looks into the bright eyes of a child.

Dr. Collins has carried this passion throughout her career caring for young people of all ages. She most enjoys working collaboratively with patients and families, helping them to navigate the challenges of parenting in this complex world. Additionally, she has completed specialized training in adolescent medicine and is comfortable managing those “thorny” teenage issues.

When not caring for children, Dr. Collins recharges with friends and family. She indulges her creative side with photography, gardening, fiber art, and ethnic cooking. On weekends, you will likely find her strolling local farmers markets and roadside fruit stands.

Dr. Collins is board certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She is excited by opportunities to improve children’s health care and enjoys her involvement with regional professional pediatric organizations and teaching at OHSU.
