I approach my work with a person-centered, strengths-based lens. I bring with me curiosity and compassion. It is exciting to be able to work in a space where I can support youth and families in a way where they will be set up for success moving forward.”
– Jamie Williams, LCSWOne of the first major events of Jamie’s life was made possible by social work: her adoption. Growing up Jamie heard about the social worker who helped her parents adopt her as a baby, her first exposure to the concept and initial inspiration. Jamie always knew she would choose a career in a helping profession, where her genuine interest in getting to know people and their stories could make a positive difference.
With every step she took toward becoming a social worker, Jamie found more reasons to appreciate it. During her time at a child development center, she realized the importance of showing up for children and families each day as a trusted source of knowledge and safety. Then, working in a residential setting with adolescent girls, she was consistently inspired by the strength and resilience she saw and grateful for the opportunity to help teens learn and grow. During graduate school, Jamie stepped into crisis services, where she felt incredibly privileged to support people on one of the most difficult days of their lives.
Jamie loves that social work is different day to day and always exciting. She has never lost sight of the courage it takes to reach out and accept support and feels honored to have the ability to sit with someone and work together to find creative ways to meet their current needs.
In her off time, Jamie recharges with coffee and quality family time. She enjoys being outside, going for walks, and welcoming the new seasons. Her favorite escape is the ocean, where she feels most relaxed. Other interests are food, trying new things, and cooking with her family. She’s also into reading, musicals, and doing activities with her daughter.
