"It is an honor to support children and families during their most vulnerable times by helping them navigate life stressors and cope with challenges. It’s a privilege to witness the resilience, strengths, and positive changes that emerge. I find my work most rewarding when I am able to help support children and families build on their strengths and enhance their emotional well-being."– Emily Haug, LCSW
Moving around the country and world as a child, Emily quickly learned to connect and build relationships with others wherever she went. From a young age, she enjoyed serving her community and later, developed a passion for social justice and child safety and well-being.
After working as a pediatric medical social worker with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Emily decided she was ready to move from Tennessee to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
She’s a strong believer that any small change towards a goal is worth celebrating and we all have that capacity for change. She’s always been intrigued by the ways the environments can impact our lives. According to Emily, social work has the most impact when we are able to help families highlight their strengths, build off the strengths they have, and help build a sense of hope.
Emily’s a lover of the outdoors and all the beautiful trees here in Oregon. Being outside, camping and active is her form of self-care, which allows her to have the emotional capacity to continue supporting families, especially during tragedies. Emily enjoys finding new camping spots and swimming holes to enjoy with her husband and dog during the summer, and snowshoeing in the winter. She especially loves Salt & Straw, even when it’s raining and cold!
