Care Philosophy

I believe in arming a patient and family with all the information that allows us, as a team, to make an informed decision about their care. My favorite thing about being a pediatrician is the connection I have with my families and how they have included me in their day-to-day lives. It is the greatest honor."

– Sandy Sequeira, MD

Biography

In the words of Dr. Sequeira, “Pediatrics is not just about treating the child; it’s about treating the whole family.” After more than 15 years in practice, she is still humbled every time a family welcomes her into their lives, and feels blessed to share in each unique journey of childhood and parenthood. Helping families grow up happy and healthy is not only her pleasure, but also her greatest joy!

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Sequeira stayed true to The Golden State and her affection for warm weather by attending nearby University of California, Davis. Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science, she returned home to work as a chemist, conducting dermatology research at the University of California, San Francisco. Life’s next adventure took her outside her home state (but not beyond the sunshine) to the Caribbean island of Grenada, where she attended St. George’s University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her pediatric internship and residency in the east—definitely not the warm weather she had grown accustomed to, but good preparation for her next stop: Oregon!

Although our state is known for more rain than shine, Dr. Sequeira has happily called Portland home since 2000. She, along with her family—husband Dennis and daughters, Isabel and Delaney—combat grey skies by stealing away to warm, non-rainy destinations when they can. At home, the girls keep busy with piano, violin lessons, symphony, gymnastics, and dance. As a family, they enjoy spending time together and are actively involved in their church. When life slows down for a bit, Dr. Sequeira can often be found whipping something up in the kitchen, curled up with a good book, walking the family dog, or exploring the great outdoors.
