Care Philosophy

My hope is to make every interaction count and to help my patients in whatever way I can, and working in pediatrics, to also provide the reassurance and teaching that I can to their caretakers. Working in primary care, I strive to form relationships with my patients and their families and to create a space in which they can feel safe, heard, and respected. I love to utilize humor and laughter to create joy in my office visits!”

Biography

Growing up in Eugene, Oregon, Sarah was practically raised on Duck spirit and dreams of a career in medicine. Inspired by her parents in the medical field, she naturally gravitated towards healthcare, but with a twist – she knew she wanted to work with children (because they’re the absolute best and SO MUCH fun!).

After graduating from the University of Oregon with double majors in Human Physiology and Spanish, Sarah wasn’t quite sure which path to take. A stint as a scribe in a pediatric office opened her eyes to the amazing world of pediatric nurse practitioners (PNPs). From there, it was off to Vanderbilt University’s PNP program, and then finally, a joyous return to the “Best Coast” (Oregon, of course!) to begin practicing as a PNP.

Working with children is a constant source of energy for Sarah. Their resilience, humor, and bravery inspire her every day. Her greatest triumphs come from coaxing smiles and laughter from scared little ones, and from building trust with teenagers who try to hide their anxieties behind a tough facade. Witnessing new parents blossom in their roles and guiding them through those precious first years is another privilege she cherishes.

Sarah’s special interests lie in caring for newborns and toddlers, supporting immigrant families and marginalized communities, and tackling pediatric mental health. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her in her southeast Portland home, surrounded by her loving husband, two adorable children (a toddler and an infant), and a furry crew consisting of rescue pups Olive and Timber (a three-legged wonder living up to his name, “Tiiiimber!”), and Hobbes, the fluffy kitty.

This adventurous family loves exploring Oregon’s hidden gems, from parks in Portland to local breweries and coastal getaways. In her free time, Sarah unwinds with cross-stitching, film photography, and whipping up culinary delights in the kitchen. In true Portlander style, she’s been happily converted into a Thorns and Timbers fan by her husband, and they often take their cheering squad (the kids!) to the games.
