Care Philosophy

When I work with kids and their families, I focus on creating a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable and valued. I believe that working together is the best way to make decisions about care, so I actively include kids and families in the planning process, ensuring that their voices are heard.

Empowering patients is another key goal. I provide education and resources to help kids and families develop the skills and confidence they need to manage their own health. With over 15 years of experience, I know that consistent support is essential for helping kids and families thrive. I believe that working together with families, doctors, and the community is the key to achieving the best possible outcomes.”

Biography

Sarah, a proud Oregon native, has been a dedicated nurse in the Portland area since graduating from nursing school in 2008. Her love for working with children began during her college summers, when she volunteered at youth programs like Upward Bound and Gales Creek Camp, a special retreat for kids with type 1 diabetes.

Sarah’s pediatric experience continued at OHSU, where she worked as a PICC nurse, caring for both children and adults in the PICU, NICU, and oncology units. As she aspired to become a nurse practitioner, she was not quite sure which area of healthcare she wanted to specialize in. There were so many exciting possibilities!

Luckily, fate stepped in. During her nurse practitioner program, Sarah had the incredible opportunity to complete a rotation at Metropolitan Pediatrics. It was there that her passion for caring for children and families truly blossomed. It was almost as if the stars had aligned, because shortly after completing her FNP program, Metro Peds was hiring! Sarah could not be more thrilled to join such a wonderful organization and continue her journey as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Sarah loves being a nurse practitioner because it lets her make a real, positive impact on kids’ lives. It’s the perfect blend of her passion for healthcare and her love for building strong relationships and offering support when it matters most. Seeing a child get healthier and happier is the biggest reward. Whether it’s helping them overcome a challenge, teaching their family how to take care of them, or watching them grow and thrive, it’s all so fulfilling.

Sarah is also committed to making sure every child can get the care they need. Growing up in rural Oregon, she saw firsthand how hard it can be for some families to access quality healthcare. By breaking down barriers and advocating for fair treatment, she can help more kids get the preventive care and timely medical attention they deserve.

Sarah’s a big fan of adventure, and she loves exploring the great outdoors with her husband and their three furry best friends. Whether they’re spiking a volleyball or enjoying outdoor activities like skiing and hiking, they always have a blast.

Growing up in rural Oregon with a bunch of pets, Sarah developed a deep love for animals. She’s a huge dog lover and volunteers her time walking pups at a local rescue. It’s her way of giving back and showing her love for our four-legged friends.
