With a warm, client-centered, and validating approach, I empower children and their families to improve their communication and build stronger, more connected relationships.”
– Karina Pacheco, LPCKarina’s path into behavioral health began with the sweetest high school internship. It wasn’t just any after-school gig; her time as a tutor for bright-eyed elementary schoolers at the YWCA was pure magic. Watching those young minds bloom and their faces light up with new discoveries sparked the biggest “aha!” moment in her heart. It filled her with such bubbly joy that right then and there, she knew her calling was to be a friend and helper to children and their families.
Fast forward to college, and it took just one social work class for Karina to absolutely adore the field. She jumped right in, volunteering at a local women’s shelter and throwing herself into service projects that made the world a little brighter for kids and families. Her passion even whisked her away to Yakima, Washington, where she offered a helping hand to migrant worker families.
Graduate school brought exciting new chances to connect at Reynolds Learning Academy in Troutdale. As an intern, Karina truly treasured the moments she spent one-on-one with students, offering a kind ear, helpful little nuggets of wisdom, and extending that same gentle care to their families.
Then, life took the most beautiful detour with the arrival of her precious daughter. Becoming a stay-at-home mom was pure joy, and Karina poured all her love and energy into helping her little one find her voice after a speech delay. Once her kiddo was happily chatting away in kindergarten, that familiar tug on Karina’s heart returned. She rejoined the professional world at Lovejoy Surgicenter, offering a comforting presence and a safe space for women navigating tough times.
When Lovejoy Surgicenter closed its doors in 2021, it led Karina to the wonderful Parry Center for Children, a place where her passion truly blossomed. There, she offered a comforting hand through counseling, stepped in as a calm in the storm during crises, and thoughtfully guided so many families with gentle case management. Her heartfelt work with countless amazing children and their loved ones allowed her to grow a deeply thoughtful, caring, and trauma-informed approach.
As a behavioral health clinician, some of Karina’s most cherished moments are seeing a child’s face absolutely beam with pride when they share something special or talk about what makes their heart sing. She is a true cheerleader for helping kids believe in themselves. Knowing she can create a safe, cozy, and predictable space for children who have been through so much, allowing their little spirits to truly flourish, makes her work the most rewarding thing in the world.
Karina’s nurturing spirit spills over into her time off. She and her daughter are quite the crafting duo, always adding magical little touches to their fairy garden. Her loyal furry pal, Loki, a German shepherd mix, is her favorite adventure buddy for exploring the beautiful PNW trails. She also opens her heart and home to the sweetest foster kitties. For quiet moments, you’ll find her gently tending to her amazing collection of cacti and succulents – her beloved aloe vera and stunning Mocha Moon hibiscus are the pride and joy of her garden!
