Biography

Hillary’s journey to becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner began with nearly a decade of experience in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Caring for critically and chronically ill children there instilled in her a deep appreciation for resilience, attention to detail, empathy, and the power of compassionate care. Over time, she found herself drawn to the preventive and holistic aspects of care, desiring to empower families beyond treating acute illnesses.

While leaving the intense pace of the PICU was challenging, Hillary realized her true passion was building relationships with children and their families. After gaining experience in various clinical rotations, she knew that becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner would allow her to provide the comprehensive, compassionate care she valued most. It was a journey of growth and reflection, but every step confirmed her calling.

As a pediatric nurse practitioner, Hillary is deeply committed to positively impacting children’s lives and supporting their families through both routine care and critical moments. She loves her job because it allows her to be an advocate for children, guiding them through health challenges while providing reassurance and comfort to their families. Her proudest moments come when she sees children regain their health and thrive, knowing she played a role in their recovery and well-being. Empowering parents with the knowledge and confidence to care for their children is especially fulfilling, contributing to healthier futures for the entire family.

Hillary’s professional interests include palliative care, health equity, and quality improvement. She is also deeply invested in the education of future healthcare providers, serving as a preceptor and mentor whenever possible. These areas of focus reflect her desire to improve individual patient outcomes and contribute to systemic improvements in pediatric healthcare.

Outside of work, Hillary enjoys exploring the Portland food scene, traveling, Pilates, baking sourdough bread, needlepointing, and spending time with her two dogs. Her dogs, Finn (an old, lazy English Bulldog) and Sully (a crazy Goldendoodle puppy), bring fun, joy, and a little bit of mischief into her life.
