Care Philosophy

As a relationship-based social worker, I believe that genuine, authentic connections with children and families lead to positive outcomes. I value the power of sharing your story and feel honored to have the opportunity to help empower children to rewrite their personal narrative in a way that reflects their strength and resilience.”

– Hannah Acock, LCSW

Biography

Born with a physical disability, Hannah knows what it’s like to receive disappointing news from your doctor, be different from your peers, and struggle with physical limitations and pain. Her personal story could have been about her setbacks in life, but instead she chose a narrative that’s full of perseverance, exceeding goals that once felt impossible, and helping others do the same.

Hannah began her social work career by supporting children and families impacted by complex medical diagnoses in the hospital setting. She had been in their shoes before and knew the positive impact her childhood care team had on the way she viewed her disability. Hannah’s providers taught her that her medical issues did not define her nor could they hold her back from her dreams and goals. She continues to relay that message to kids today, helping them build upon their existing strengths and resilience to reach their fullest potential.

Before working with medically complex patients, Hannah was an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventionist for children on the autism spectrum. Working with kids on the spectrum and supporting their families remains one of her clinical passions. Seeing kids use important life skills that she’s had the opportunity to help teach them is incredibly rewarding and inspiring. If Hannah’s learned anything from her life and work, it’s that there are no limits to what people can achieve. We are capable of much more than we know. Sometimes we just need a little nudge of encouragement to try.

Personality-wise, Hannah is very warm and outgoing. She thrives in social settings and enjoys meeting new people. Her days off are spent playing with her dog (a Cavapoo named Lucy), sharing laughs with friends and family, reading, cooking, and crafting. Despite challenges early in life, Hannah is grateful to be physically healthy today and has a lot of compassion and empathy for those up against serious medical issues. She strongly believes in the power of kindness and helping others, and has learned not to take simple things for granted. She hopes to inspire others to be comfortable and confident in who they are, so they can see the possibilities (not the impossibilities) in every page of their story.

Testimonials

"We came here for the first COVID vaccine for our 6 year old, who is TERRIFIED of shots after a bad experience (being held down).

The Bridgeport location is out of the way as we live in Gresham, but I was set on finding the best experience for the vaccine and I must say that the team that assisted us that day was PHENOMENAL!!!!

The team never once made us feel rushed, or suggested we come back another day. The social worker was kind and beyond patient as she talked to my daughter about her fears, and eventually convinced her to "practice" the injection a few times. After an HOUR (give those ladies a raise!!!), they not only got the injection done, but my daughter didn't even shed one tear. I was beyond impressed by the miracle that happened that day. haha! This is what pediatric healthcare should be like!!! Thank you MP Bridgeport!!!!"

"I am thoroughly impressed by this office. The folx I have had experience with are accommodating, professional, and compassionate. The staff obviously works hard to be open to diverse family structures, and their intentional effort comes through in most everything they do. The approach appears team focused and child centered, while also not pretentious. They are willing to listen and work together on the rare occasion discomfort does arise. Hannah, one of their amazing Social Workers, has been particularly helpful with referrals, and going out of her way to assist our family during this difficult time."
