Care Philosophy

As a pediatric nurse practitioner, it is such a privilege to partner with families and children to provide excellent, thoughtful, and compassionate care through their childhood and teenage years. I love watching children grow and develop, and learn to care for their bodies. Providing parents and children with up-to-date information and guidance allows them to make the best decisions about their health and well-being. I love that I get to do this every day!"

– Cindi Farnstrom, CPNP

Biography

All her life, Cindi has loved children, learning, science, and watching things grow. From babysitting to volunteering in the hospital to helping teach youth in church, she was always drawn to kids. On school days, she lived for science class and remembers “experimenting” at home. By college, she knew that nursing was the right path for her, and pediatrics was her stop.

When Cindi finished nursing school, sadly, there were no pediatric nursing positions in her area. So, on a dare, she moved to New Mexico and lived there for about four years, working in the hospital. After returning to the Pacific Northwest, she worked in the pediatric operating room before going back to college for her master’s as a nurse practitioner, and most recently, post-master’s in acute care pediatrics.

As a nurse practitioner, Cindi has had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical settings and subspecialties, including cardiology, ENT, and infectious disease. The knowledge and experience she has gained from children and their families have really shaped how she provides care. She is amazed by their resiliency and ability to find joy in even the most challenging situations. Partnering with families continues to be such a gift and honor. She can’t think of a better career!

When she’s not working, Cindi loves spending time with her family and sweet dog, Cabo. You can usually find her outdoors hiking, camping, coaching or watching sporting events, or volunteering. Her family is actively involved in soccer and lacrosse. She and her family also enjoy getting away to the beach or mountains to relax. Every spring, Cindi and her kids plant a vegetable garden together, and they laugh at how excited she gets when shoots start popping up. She also exercises her green thumb by tending other plants and propagating succulents. She really does love watching things grow – kids, flowers, and plants!

Fun Facts: Cindi loves jokes and if stranded on an island, with only two food choices, Cindi would choose peanut butter and bananas until rescued.
