Same-Day Care FAQs
We know it can be stressful when your child isn’t feeling well. To help ease your mind, we’ve put together some quick answers to common questions about how we handle unexpected illnesses and injuries.
Why choose Metro Pediatrics when your child is sick or hurt?
When your child is sick or injured, you want the best care in a place they know and trust. We provide pediatric care that is gentle, kid-friendly, and age-appropriate. With same-day appointments 7 days a week and 24/7 nurse advice, choosing Metro ensures your child is treated by a team that knows their history in a warm, comforting environment.
Do you offer pediatric immediate care on weekends?
Yes! We offer same-day appointments 7 days a week for childhood illnesses and injuries in our Beaverton, Johnson Creek (Happy Valley), and Gresham locations. Our Bridgeport (Tigard) and NW Portland clinics are open 6 days a week.
What is the difference between immediate care and the ER?
Our pediatric immediate care is designed for non-life-threatening issues like fevers, rashes, and minor injuries, helping you avoid the long waits and high costs of the emergency room.
When can I call for 24/7 pediatric nurse advice?
You can call for nurse advice anytime—day or night—for guidance on home care or to help decide if your child needs to see a doctor. Our experienced advice nurses are available to support you and will get back to you as quickly as possible if they are helping another family when you call.
What treatments are available during a same-day office visit?
Our clinics offer many in-office treatments, including wart removal, minor burn care, and ear wax removal. We also provide nebulizer breathing treatments and care for injuries, such as stitches (sutures), nail removal, and orthopedic injury assessment. We can treat many injuries right here, or we’ll refer you to a specialist or hospital for more severe injuries or broken bones.
Does Metro Pediatrics offer on-site lab testing?
Yes! We perform many common pediatric lab tests right in our clinics, including strep, flu, and RSV testing, as well as blood sugar and anemia screenings. For more specialized tests, we collect the sample in our office and send it to an outside lab for results. This ensures your child receives expert care in a warm, comforting environment without an extra trip to a separate lab.
Do you offer telehealth or virtual visits?
Yes! We offer virtual video visits for many general health concerns, so you can get expert care from the comfort of home. To schedule your telehealth appointment, just call our office. It’s a convenient way to connect with your provider without a trip to the clinic.
