We want to keep you informed about the latest COVID-19 vaccine availability and recommendations. Metro Pediatrics follows vaccine recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Recommendations for 2025-2026
The AAP recommends the updated COVID-19 vaccine based on age and risk:
- All Children Ages 6-23 Months: Vaccination is strongly recommended for all children younger than 2 years old. This group has the highest rate of hospitalization from COVID-19.
- High-Risk Individuals (Ages 2-18 Years): A single dose is recommended for children and teens who are at high risk for severe COVID-19 (due to underlying medical conditions) or whose household contacts are high risk.
- Available to All: The vaccine is also available for any child or adolescent who wishes to receive it, regardless of risk.
Our providers are here to answer your questions. You can find more information on the benefits and risks of the vaccine by visiting the AAP’s website.
