COVID-19 Clinic Changes Effective 3/25/20
Our government has called on each of us to help slow the spread of COVID-19. What each of us does today matters and will help protect the most vulnerable members of our community.
We need everyone’s help to slow down this virus!
Our community needs to help.
Our families need to help.
We need to help.
For Metropolitan Pediatrics, this means implementing physical distancing in our clinics.
We’re going to divide the care that we provide into different locations, so that we can ensure the safest and best care for our patients who need us. The following changes will go into effect Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
While COVID-19 remains a concern, we will dedicate most of our clinics to well care and non-contagious concerns. Our patients with cold and flu-like symptoms will be seen at our Bridgeport and Happy Valley-Sunnyside locations.
Pediatric care is an “essential service” in our community. It is CRITICAL that you call Metropolitan Pediatrics, not an emergency room, for your care needs. It is also very important that children, especially children under two years of age, receive their immunizations on time.
We will do our best to ensure that families continue to have access to their regular providers as much as possible. We appreciate your understanding that scheduling may be impacted as we adjust to this new way of operating.
We encourage you to bring your children in for their regular appointments, including well-child checks and immunizations. We are contacting families with upcoming appointments affected by this change to offer scheduling opportunities within this new clinic structure.
Well Care Clinics
The following four clinics will be dedicated to well care, providing families a safe space for check-ups and routine health maintenance needs:
- Happy Valley – Johnson Creek
- NW Portland
All well visits will have significant pre-screening prior to patients’ arrival to maintain the safety of these spaces.
Response Care Clinics
The following two clinics will be dedicated to response care for children who are not feeling well or who have respiratory symptoms:
- Happy Valley – Sunnyside
Telehealth Services (Video Visits) Available
Telehealth services (video visits) will be available for a variety of patient needs with providers at all locations. For the time being, EVERY sick visit will start as a video visit to reduce the risk of spreading germs in our clinics.
Metropolitan Pediatrics will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and follow best practices and recommendations for keeping everyone safe and healthy.
For now, our operating hours will remain the same, but this could change in the future.
We anticipate that these clinic divisions will stay in place for the next 8-12 weeks, at minimum, as we work together to fight COVID-19!
Remember, unless your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, do not go to the emergency room, call your Medical Home—Metropolitan Pediatrics.
You are Priority #1
Although care looks a little different right now, one thing has not changed: our commitment to your family’s health and well-being.
We are here for you.
We are answering the call to help slow the spread of COVID-19 with you.
And we will still be here for your family when this is all over.
Let’s do our best to take care of each other during this trying time!
